Supporting the UK’s Largest Steel Plant

Tinsley Bridge working in partnership with CISDI UK have completed a project to support one of the UK’s largest steel plants during the UK Covid 19 lockdown.

These large back up rolling mill chocks were stripped, inspected, tested and fully refurbished back to drawing specification by our in house experts over a period of several weeks.

The accuracy of this repair is critical to the operation of the chocks during steel mill rolling operations. As the chocks house large bearings and back up rolls, it is essential they are square and in line to the mill housing. Minor discrepancies in tolerancing would cause major problems in the mill and severely effect rolling operations. Tinsley Bridge are a long term trusted supplier to many key steel manufactures across the UK.

Following a strip and inspect operation these components were machined in worn areas, weld repaired, accurately finish machined and where necessary new parts supplied and fitted to bring them back in line with drawing tolerances.
