Surface Grinder Machinist - Day Role

Group company: Tyzack Machine Knives Ltd

Reporting to: CNC Team Leader / Production Manager

Role & Responsibilities

Your role will be to operate various CNC machines within the Production Facility. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operation of open sided (Snow & Segmental) surface grinding machines to high standard of quality and productivity
  • Adherence to company Health and Safety Policy
  • Maintenance of shop floor housekeeping standards

  • Proven ability to work to tight, accurate tolerances e.g. +/-0.025mm (0.001”), // to 0.025mm (0.001”) (with ambition to work to 0.005mm on certain products
  • Proven ability to work to tight, accurate angular tolerances on shear / chamfer faces on certain products
  • Understanding the concept of two and three siding
  • Understanding grinding thickness, width and ends to size on rectangular and square steel section
  • Ability to operate 1 or 2 machines where safe and practicable or work within a cell operation

Desirable:

  • Apprenticeship or Engineering qualification, either NVQ/ONC/HNC/HND
  • Previous experience in a steel machining precision environment
  • Experience of hard machining i.e. HRC> 45

Hours of Work

Days: Monday – Wednesday 06:00 – 16:00 Thursday 06:00 – 15:30 (37.5Hrs)
Nights: Monday – Wednesday 20:00 – 06:00 Thursday 20:00 – 05:30 (37.5Hrs)
(Nights normally work 4-12 Hours shifts) + Overtime

Working Location & Travel Requirement

Should be located or be prepared to re-locate to within a reasonable commuting distance from Sheffield.

Extra Company Benefits

  • £22k to £29k salary scale with hourly rate of £11.15 – £13.60 dependant on experience
  • Overtime bonus up to 15% Salary subject to business demand
  • Holidays are 25 days plus statutory holidays progressing to 27 days plus 8 statutory holidays

CNC Machinist - Day / Night Role

  • Run and modify / edit existing programmes
  • Program writing on several CNC machines from customer drawings in Fanuc programming languages (Siemens an advantage) (NB 90% of all programs are Fanuc)
  • Periodic review / development of existing Fanuc and Siemens programmes to reduce costs
  • Tooling development with current and new suppliers

Desirable:

  • Apprenticeship or Engineering qualification, either NVQ/ONC/HNC/HND
  • Previous experience in a steel machining precision environment
  • Experience of expansion in materials
  • Experience of hard machining i.e. HRC> 45

Hours of Work

Days: Monday – Wednesday 06:00 – 16:30 Thursday 06:00 – 15:30 (37.5Hrs)
Nights: Monday – Wednesday 20:00 – 06:00 Thursday 20:00 – 05:30 (37.5Hrs)

Goods inwards / Despatch Quality Inspector

Group company: Tinsley Bridge Services Limited

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Hours of work: Mon – Thur 07:30 – 16:00 & Fri 07:30 – 13:00 (degree of flexibility to suit workload)

Role & Responsibilities

Although most of the work monitoring of suppliers and procured products some inspection of internally manufactured products is envisaged.

  • Work towards a better quality product (internally and externally manufactured) with fewer mistakes throughout TBSL workshop operations.
  • Ensuring the inspection system and documentation is adhered too and improved as we move forward.
  • Work closely with all areas both internally within TBG and externally with suppliers and customers.
  • Work flexibly and work closely with other functions to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the department.
  • Reporting to the fabrication Operations Manager as a member of the fabrications team, the role will include:
  • Conformance to ISO 9001 Quality Management System Standard
  • Measurement of components according to both customer & internal engineering drawings.
  • Inspection of incoming raw materials/ procured and free issue products,
  • Ensuring vehicles are loaded/ unloaded in a timely safe manner and goods are stored correctly and in the right location – quarantine; inspection; allocation and issue to assist in the smooth running of the company.
  • Raising the correct paperwork and system bookings
  • Execution of and the adherence to Quality Inspection & Test Plans leading to customer approval.
  • Assisting the internal Quality Inspection & Test Plan preparation.
  • Execution of and the adherence to Quality and Inspection Test Plan.
  • Knowledge of Capability Studies

Assistant Inspector

Role & Responsibilities

Your role will be to quality check via inspection procedures all products within the Production Facility prior to despatch and support warehouse operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspection of all product groups
  • Completion of all quality compliance documentation
  • Identify correction actions and feedback
  • Support on warehousing stock control and packaging when required
  • Adherence to Company Health and Safety Policy
  • Maintenance of shop floor housekeeping standards

    • Proven ability to work to tight accurate tolerances e.g. +/-0.025mm (0.001”), // to 0.025mm (0.001”) (with ambition to work to 0.005mm on certain products.
    • Ability and experience of using measuring equipment e.g. micrometres, verniers, digital height gauge etc.
    • Ability and experience of using slip gauges to measure tolerances to varying limits and fits(H7/H9/G6) etc.
    • Ability and experience of using hardness testers on HRC, Brinell and Vickers scale.
    • Ability and experience of using Go / No Go gauges for hole limits and fits
    • Ability to interprets angles from drawings through trigonometry

    Desirable:

    • Apprenticeship or Engineering qualification, either NVQ/ONC/HNC/HND
    • Previous experience in a steel machining precision environment
    • Knowledge of steel grades such as boron & tool steels an advantage

    Plater/Welder (Full time)

    Reporting to: Production Manager

    Hours of work: Mon – Thurs 07:30 – 16:00, Fri 07:30 – 13:30

    Role & Responsibilities

    Your role will be plater welder manufacturing fabrications both bespoke and standard.

    You will be responsible for producing high quality fabrications, on time, to budget and in a safe manner.

    Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Personal Attributes:

    Essential:

    • Apprentice trained with City and Guilds in fabrication and welding or equivalent.
    • Proof of recent welding coding’s.
    • Experience of working in quality driven environment
    • Trained to 1090 and 3834 standards with a minimum welder qualification of BS EN ISO 9606 fillet and butt.
    • Worked with various materials such as carbon steels, Stainless, Aluminium and other exotic specifications.
    • Able to read and understand complicated technical drawings quality documents and QITP.
    • Competent in all aspects of processing steel i.e. cutting, shearing, drilling and bending.
    • Ensure tolerances and parameters are met to satisfy quality and output.
    • Follow and adhere to procedures for both production and health and safety daily, weekly and monthly checks.
    • Ability to work effectively and use own initiative.
    • Be a team player and have a flexible / “Can Do” attitude.

    Working Location & Travel Requirement

    Based mainly in our facility in Sheffield, travel to client sites may be required. Candidate must have own transport, travel expenses will be paid.
