Innovation Award for SOMI

The 2016 Northern Auto Alliance (NAA) Awards were held in Manchester, this year. The awards showcase excellence and advances in vehicle manufacture and supply chain logistics, in the region. Over 270 member organisations were represented at the dinner and the keynote speaker was Lawrence Davies MBE, CEO of the Automotive Investment Organisation (AIO).

The “hotly contested” Innovation Award, sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover, was won by Tinsley Bridge manufacturing partner SOMI, for its new HGV trailer. The innovative design carries eight extra pallets compared to a conventional unit, saving one in four journeys and associated fuel costs, emissions and congestion. It is a well deserved accolade for SOMI founder Pauline Dawes who has spent nine years developing the ground breaking product.
