Cooling Tower & Fan Extraction Lifting Beam Platform

fabricated access platform

Tinsley Bridge have completed a project to enable access to the top of industrial cooling towers and the extraction of cooling fans during vital maintenance routines for a large processing plant.

The existing system required a mobile crane to extract the fan assembly with significant cost and time disruption. Tinsley Bridge were commissioned to design, manufacture, install and commission an access platform that enabled safe access to the top of the cooling towers. The design incorporated a lifting runway beam, allowing easy extraction of the fan assemblies and fork truck access during plant maintenance.

Chris Hadley, Project Design Engineer, said “A full site survey was used to create a full design solution, this included calculations for the analysis of all structural items. The project plan detailed the drawings for manufacture and completed proof load testing during the installation and commissioning phase. The project has been a total success and delivered within budget and on time. Our customer is delighted at the improvements achieved, with maintenance of the plant now much simpler and quicker.”
