Tinsley Bridge Re-Engineers Sticking Steel Plant Door

We designed and installed an innovative solution to resolve a sticking door.

This is not a solution achieved by shaving a few millimetres from a door in your house. Tinsley Bridge differentiates itself from other companies through its ability to re-engineer and enhance products as well as manufacturing to original customer drawings.

The door in question is part of a huge steel continuous casting plant. It measures 5m long, stands 2 stories high and weighs several tonnes. Steel giant Outokumpu were struggling to manoeuvre the door, requiring a crane to drag the door open and closed.

Tinsley Bridge calculated the loads involved to create a new solution, then designed, fabricated and installed a unique sliding mechanism. The design included a motor-powered opening system – so the door can now be operated at the push of a button!
