SOMI recognised at the Trailer Innovation Awards

Small British transport innovator SOMI saw off established European firms to clinch ‘runner up’ in the European Trailer Innovation Awards with their space-enhancing trailer.
The 4m high SOMI trailer is capable of carrying 8 extra UK pallets, or 10 EU pallets, in the space between the tractor unit and the rear axles.

Judged by a team of experienced transport professionals and journalists from 11 countries, SOMI’s trailer design scored 85 out of 100, just behind a 14-axle mega trailer and way ahead of the other 91 entrants.

The award was announced at the 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles Exhibition, the leading international trade fair for mobility, transportation and logistics, in Hannover on Friday 26th September.

Tinsley Bridge was a key partner in taking SOMI’s innovative design from a prototype to a mass production ready specification; manufacturing and installing the unique load management mechanism that sets the trailer apart. This patented automatic lowering/lifting platform installed inside the trailer body can position pallets into previously unused space within the trailer.
