Plans Submitted for AMRC2

AMRC

Sheffield University has submitted ambitious plans for developing the former Sheffield City Airport. The planning proposal for The Advanced Manufacturing and Research Centre Campus (AMRC2) includes 860,000 sq ft of advanced manufacturing and research space, 468,000 sq ft for a training centre and 16,000 sq ft for recreation. If successful the AMRC2 site could lead to the creation of anywhere between 1,494 to1,881 jobs.

The first University-backed AMRC now includes 40 companies including Rolls-Royce and Boeing. The location of a world class research and development facility close to Sheffield has provided a massive stimulus to Sheffield manufacturing businesses. Mark Webber, Managing Director commented “Working with the AMRC expands our R&D capability and makes a significant contribution to new product innovation”.
