Gearbox Precision at Tinsley Bridge
Another example of the unrivalled expert knowledge, skillset, expertise, accreditations and innovative technologies here at Tinsley Bridge.
Gearbox bluing and bedding-in are processes related to gear tooth contact and wear in a gearbox.
Bluing involves applying a thin layer of a special dye (like Prussian Blue) to the teeth of one gear. The gears are then meshed, and the contact pattern on the teeth is observed – revealing areas of excessive or insufficient contact. Proper contact ensures that the load is distributed evenly across the tooth surfaces, preventing stress concentrations and an even contact minimizes wear and extends the life of the gears.
