Celebrating our Future Engineers

The Big Bang Fair is organised by Engineering UK to celebrate children’s achievements in Science, Engineering, Technology and Maths (STEM). Around 4500 school children attended the Yorkshire & Humber event.

Tinsley Bridge engineering graduate Nathan Paffern-Powell took along a prototype composite anti roll bar and tubular stabiliser bar to demonstrate light weight innovations used in automotive applications. The components help to reduce carbon emissions in trucks and buses.

Nathan said “It was a great experience and gave the children a direct understanding how STEM affects all areas of modern life, even places they didn’t expect to find engineering at work. Giving our future engineers hands on experience of components that help to reduce air pollution really engaged their interest. They were amazed to feel the weight difference of the composite parts.”
