Major Supermarket Logistics Fleet in SOMI Trial

SOMI

The latest refrigerated version of the SOMI trailer has been trialled by the national logistics provider to a major supermarket.

The space-enhancing articulated trailer significantly reduces the cost of road transport, removes trucks from congested city roads and lowers carbon emissions by reducing four journeys to three.

The SOMI is able to carry an extra 8 pallets using the space under the trailer. The trailer can load onto standard docking bays and requires no modification to warehouse or depot infrastructure – a major advantage over current trailer designs.

Pauline Dawes, SOMI Managing Director said “We are very excited by the interest from large UK supermarkets who can understand the benefits a standard 4m high trailer with a 33% increased load capacity. The trial with a major logistics provider was very successful and demonstrated the unique benefits of SOMI to reduce delivery costs in the rapidly increasing number of smaller urban supermarkets and depots.
